VYTL How-to V

Connect Apple Health

Apple Health gives VYTL your sleep and heart data for readiness, and your active calories for daily targets. It is free on every plan, and every part of it is optional.

Paths like You then Settings mean: open the You tab, then tap the gear at the top right.

Connect

  1. Setup offers Apple Health near the end. To connect later, go to You then Settings then Integrations, then Apple Health.
  2. Tap Connect Apple Health. iOS shows the Health permission sheet. Turn on the data you want to share with VYTL.
  3. Back in VYTL, choose what VYTL writes to Apple Health. Each kind has its own switch.
  4. Fetch Apple Health Data pulls the latest. The screen shows when it last synced.

What VYTL uses

Sleep
Last night's hours, for readiness.
Heart rate variability and resting heart rate
Compared with your own baseline, for readiness.
Active calories
On a more active day, today's food targets go up to match. They never go down because of it.

The iOS permission sheet lists more types than these. Share only what you want. Anything you leave off, VYTL goes without.

What VYTL can write

Change or stop

To change what VYTL can read, open the iPhone Settings app, then Privacy & Security, then Health, then VYTL. To stop VYTL writing something, turn off its switch on VYTL's Apple Health screen.

Other devices

Fitbit, Whoop, Oura and Garmin do not connect to VYTL directly, and neither does Strava. If your device's own app writes sleep, heart rate variability, resting heart rate or active calories to Apple Health, VYTL reads them from there. Whether it does depends on that app.

If you connected Strava, Fitbit, Oura or Whoop in an earlier version, You then Settings then Integrations still shows a row to disconnect it. Activities you already imported stay in your history.
