VYTL How-to V

Start and log a workout

Log any session on Free, with or without a plan. Every set is tracked either way.

Start a session

The first time you open the Train tab, choose how you want to train: Build me a plan or I'll train my own way. You can change your mind later.

With a VYTL plan Pro

Today's session is on the Train tab and on Today. Open it to preview the exercises, then start.

On your own

On the Train tab, tap Start a lift to build the session as you go, or Browse exercises to find a movement first. If you are on a plan and want something different today, the other-workouts menu on Train has the same options.

Log your sets

  1. Each exercise lists every set. Big barbell lifts start with warm-up sets.
  2. Enter the weight and reps, then tap the check to log the set. Weights start from what you lifted last time on that exercise.
  3. After a working set, tap how many reps you had left. That tells VYTL how hard the set was.
  4. The rest timer starts when you log a set. Add or take off 15 seconds from the timer at the top.
  5. Swipe between exercises, or tap the exercise name at the top to jump to another. Exercise options let you add a note, swap the exercise, make a superset, or remove it.

In a VYTL plan, each set also shows a target weight and rep range. VYTL sets them from your last working sets, how hard they felt, and that exercise's history.

Finish

When the last exercise is done, tap Finish workout. VYTL saves the session, marks any new personal records, and, if you turned it on, saves the workout to Apple Health.

To stop early, use the end button in the session bar. VYTL asks first, and saves the sets you have logged up to that point.

When a planned session doesn't happen

It waits for you. In the evening, VYTL offers Move it to tomorrow or Skip it this week. Nothing is held against you either way.
