The morning check-in and readiness
A few taps about last night and this morning. VYTL combines them with your training, and with Apple Health if you connect it, into a readiness score for the day.
Paths like You then Settings mean: open the You tab, then tap the gear at the top right.
Open the check-in
- Tap the readiness chip at the top right of Today. Before VYTL has anything to work from, it reads Check in and opens the check-in directly.
- Once you have a score, the chip opens a readiness summary. Tap Sleep there to add last night, or to change a night you entered yourself.
- With notifications on, VYTL also sends one quiet reminder near your wake time. Turn it off in You then Settings then Notifications, under Sleep check-in.
Answer it
- Set bed and wake times. The night starts at your usual times. Nudge either end in 15-minute steps, drag the night along the band, or tap a time to pick it. If Apple Health already has last night's sleep, VYTL shows that length, marked as coming from Apple Health, and you can still add clock times.
- Under Last night, pick sleep Quality (Bad to Great) and Alcohol (None to 3+).
- Under This morning, pick Energy (Empty to Full) and Soreness (None to Beat).
- Tap Save check-in. Each answer is saved as you tap it. If you changed nothing, saving records your usual times as last night.
A readiness strip on the check-in shows your score before and after your answers, so you can see what moved it.
What readiness is built from
- Sleep
- Hours from Apple Health or your check-in, and how the night felt.
- Heart rate variability and resting heart rate
- From Apple Health, compared with your own baseline. The baseline needs about two weeks of data, and until then these parts show as still building.
- Training
- How recently you trained, how much you have done lately, and how fresh each muscle group is.
- Your check-in
- Energy and soreness from this morning.
Parts with no data are left out instead of guessed. With nothing to work from yet, VYTL shows no score rather than a made-up one. Without Apple Health, the score works from your check-in and your training, and it holds back from its highest readings.
Reading the score
A low score is information, not a verdict. While your training history is still short, a low score shows as an early read instead of a judgment.
Open the readiness screen from the summary to see each part of the score, the last 14 days, and your heart rate variability, resting heart rate and sleep side by side.
Readiness is general wellness information, not medical advice.
